The Brazilian City, Fortaleza, plans to implement BTC payments for Public Transport

One of Brazil’s largest cities, Fortaleza, announced that by the end of 2019, it would start accepting bitcoins to pay for public transports. Fortaleza is the fifth largest city in the country, with a population of 2.7 million.
The Cootraps has recently reported that local authorities have decided that it is necessary to introduce additional payment methods to buy bus tickets, including BTC, credit and debit cards.
It should be noted that cryptocurrencies are quite common in different parts of the world and are often used to pay for various goods and services.
Carlos Roberio Sampaio the CEO of Cootraps is one of the most enthusiastic supporters of digital coins. He said:
“This is a good way to avoid bureaucracy and helps increase the number of transport users. By simplifying the payment methods, we expect an increase in the number of passengers”.
This approach helps the company to reduce operating costs and thus improve the efficiency of the urban transport payment system. There is no need for third party assistance to sell tickets.
If bank cards are used, passengers will have to pay the fare through the boarding system, while payment in Bitcoins only requires downloading a payment application to the smartphone, which will generate a QR code for payment.
Cootraps also plans to introduce payments in other currencies in the near future, although they have not identified the cryptocurrencies that can be used to travel.
It should be noted that the Brazilian cryptographic industry is not as rare as many believe. In late 2018, Brazil’s Department of Federal Revenue introduced new rules for the creation of cryptobirth in this country.
Also in October last year, a Brazilian court upheld Bitcoin Max’s right to banking services.
